Apple Picking FAQ

See below for apple picking frequently asked questions at Carrigan Farms.

When is apple season?

Apple season at Carrigan Farms is from early September to September 30th every year. The best selection is during the beginning of the season. The season is short so please mark your calendar.

What kind of apples do you grow?

We grow red and golden delicious apples on dwarf rootstock. So, this means the trees are short and you can reach the apples without a ladder.

Are the apples pick-your-own?

Yes, the apples are U-pick.

What is the proper attire?

Closed toed shoes with ankle support are preferred. Avoid sandals and flip flops. The choice of pants vs. shorts is up to you but some people find the straw scratchy to sit on. Others, get hot in pants. So just check the weather. By and far the choice of footwear is the most important.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Advanced reservations are required to attend apple picking. Note that everyone must have a reservation and everyone must pay admission, even if they do not want apples. To note, all deposits and reservations are final sale deposits – that means no refunds, no exchanges, no moving.

What if I am running late to my reserved time?

You must arrive 15 minutes prior to your reserved time to board the hayride to the orchard. If you are late you will miss your reservation. Since weekends are usually always sold out, it is unlikely there would be space on a later hayride. So, please do not be late.

Do I need to fill out a waiver?

Yes, everyone must complete a waiver prior to visiting. Upon making your online reservation, the waiver link will be sent in the confirmation email. Minors need to have their parent or guardian complete their waiver. Please be sure everyone in your party has their waiver completed prior to arriving at the farm because completing waivers at the door slows down check-in and may cause you to miss your hayride.

Do you take credit or debit cards?

No. No credit or debit cards are accepted at the farm or food truck. Only cash is accepted for payment.

Do you have an ATM?

No, we do not have an ATM.

Do you serve food?

On weekends only, the food truck serves apple cider donuts and apple cider slushies. The food truck is also cash or check only.

What if it rains?

Hayrides may continue in a very light mist if the ground is dry. If the ground is wet from recent rains, sometimes its too muddy to take the hayrides. If this is the case we will notify you as soon as we know.

Is the hayride wheelchair accessible?

No it is not wheelchair accessible.

Can I visit the quarry while I am there?

No, the quarry is not part of apple picking and you will not be able to visit it. The next opportunity to visit the quarry is at the haunted trail, www.scarriganfarms.com

Do you have hiking trails?

No we don’t. The only part of farm open during apple picking is the farm market and orchard. The remainder of the farm is not open to visitors.

Can I film with a drone?

No, you may not.

Can I bring my dog?

No pets are allowed at the farm, including dogs, cats, baby goats, etc.

Can I smoke cigarettes, cigars or a pipe while I am there?

We ask that our guests refrain from smoking while they are at the farm.
