Doug Carrigan

Born and raised in Mooresville, NC, Doug Carrigan is a proud graduate of Mooresville High School and NC State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture. Since then, he has grown his fruit farm to 275 acres. Doug’s roots run deep and his family has been farming this piece of dirt since 1902!

Doug’s secret sauce is the knowledge and experience of how to grow food, not just for himself but for thousands of other people, a trait as rare as hen’s teeth. His expertise in growing delicious fruits and vegetables have made him a respected figure in the farming community. Whether it’s strawberries, apples, pumpkins, sweet corn, marshmallows or any other crop he grows, Doug’s fruits and vegetables are known for their exceptional quality.

Doug’s dedication to farming has led him to serve as the past president of both the North American Strawberry Growers Association and the National Outstanding Young Farmers Association. He is a leader not just in the local community but throughout the country.

Doug is also a passionate advocate for sustainable farming practices and believes that a farmer’s role is not just to grow healthy and delicious produce, but to also ensure that the land is left in better condition than it was found. His hard work and creativity have helped him weather the ups and downs of Mother Nature and the unpredictability of farming as a profession. Some say he is truly outstanding in his field, but that’s usually just where you’ll find him.
