Pumpkin Picking Frequently Asked Questions

The answers to many Pumpkin FAQ are found below.

When is pumpkin season?

Pumpkin season at Carrigan Farms is from October 1st through October 31st every year. The best selection is during the beginning of the season. The season is short so please mark your calendar.

Do you grow the pumpkins there at Carrigan Farms?

Yes we do! We plant them in mid July and grow them all summer until they are ready in October. Pumpkin pickers will get to pick their pumpkin right off the vine.

What kind of pumpkins do you grow?

We several varieties of pumpkins but the main two are Sweet Baby Jane and Gladiator. Both of these varieties are large jack-o-lantern style pumpkins that are suitable for carving.

Are the pumpkins pick-your-own?

Yes, the pumpkins are pick-your-own (U-pick).

What is the proper attire?

Closed toed shoes with ankle support are preferred. Avoid sandals and flip flops. The choice of pants vs. shorts is up to you but some people find the straw scratchy to sit on. Others, get hot in pants. So just check the weather. By and far the choice of footwear is the most important.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Advanced reservations are required to attend pumpkin picking. Note that everyone must have a reservation and everyone must pay admission, even if they do not want a pumpkin.

What if I am running late to my reserved time?

You must arrive 15 minutes prior to your reserved time to board the hayride to the orchard. If you are late you will miss your reservation. Since weekends are usually always sold out, it is unlikely there would be space on a later hayride. So, please do not be late.

Do I need to fill out a waiver?

Yes, everyone must complete a waiver prior to visiting. Upon making your online reservation, the waiver link will be sent in the confirmation email. Minors need to have their parent or guardian complete their waiver. Please be sure everyone in your party has their waiver completed prior to arriving at the farm because completing waivers at the door slows down check-in and may cause you to miss your hayride.

Do you take credit or debit cards?

No. No credit or debit cards are accepted at the farm or food truck. Only cash and paper checks are accepted for payment.

Do you have an ATM?

No, we do not have an ATM.

Do you serve food?

On weekends only, the food truck serves apple cider donuts and apple cider slushies. The food truck is also cash or check only.

What if it rains?

Hayrides may continue in a very light mist if the ground is dry. If the ground is wet from recent rains, sometimes its too muddy to take the hayrides. If this is the case we will notify you as soon as we know.

Is the hayride wheelchair accessible?

No it is not wheelchair accessible.

Can I visit the quarry while I am there?

No, the quarry is not part of pumpkin picking and you will not be able to visit it. The next opportunity to visit the quarry is at the haunted trail, www.scarriganfarms.com

Can I film with a drone?
